Frank Gain Of Macomb Dies

Frank Gain, 94, of Macomb, died at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 22, 1990, at McDonough District Hospital.

He was born Jan. 16, 1896, in Astoria, a son of Will and Corda (Onion) Gain. He married Nettye Johnson June 4, 1921. She died Aug. 23, 1965.

He was also preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.

Surviving are two sons, James of Macomb and Phillip of Bear Lake, Calif.; one daughter, Patricia Schreiber of DeKalb; three brothers, Raymond of Florida, John of Peoria and Melvin of Bushnell; one sister, Alice France of Peoria; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.

Mr. Gain was a member of the First Christian Church of Macomb and the Macomb American Legion. He had been mayor and postmaster of Astoria until moving to Macomb in 1937. While living in Macomb he worked for Slusher Battery and Electric Co. for 43 years.

Memorial services are 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, at Wesley Village Retirement Center in Macomb with Rev. James Stovall officiating. Cremation rites have been accorded and the ashes will be buried in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Macomb. Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home of Macomb is in charge of arrangements.
