Raymond Gain

A. Raymond Gain, 93, of Omaha, Neb., died at 2:32 p.m. Monday, April 21, 2003, at his residence.

He was born July 30, 1909, in Astoria, the son of Will and Corda Mae Onion Gain. His first wife, Elsie, died in 1979. He later married Maxine, who also preceded him in death.

He also was preceded in death by one son, Phil; and one daughter, Christine.

Surviving are one daughter, Linda (and Fred) Cady; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He owned and operated Ray Gain Florist in Omaha for 42 years.

He was involved in the leadership of the floral community and in 1997 was inducted into the Nebraska Florists Society Hall of Fame.

He was one of three remaining charter members of West Omaha Rotary Club.

Services were held April 24 at St. Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church with Rev. Richard Munnel officiating. Burial was in Hillcrest Cemetery. Heafey-Heafey-Hoffmann-Dworak-Cutler Mortuaries in Omaha was in charge of arrangements.
