Alice France

Alice Edna France, 103, formerly of Peoria and Astoria, died at 8:32 a.m. Thursday, July 24, 1997, at Galena Park Home.

She was born Dec. 13, 1893, in Iowa, a daughter of Will and Corda Onion Gain. She married Charles A. France on Dec. 30, 1919, in Galesburg. He died June 29, 1970, in Peoria. She was also preceded in death by six brothers and one sister.

Surviving are four sons, Charles of Amhurstburg, Ontario, Canada, Ralph of Redmond, Ore., Roy of DeKalb and Lee of Chicago; 24 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; two brothers, Melvin Gain of Bushnell and Raymond Gain of Pompano Beach, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was a member of Bradley Epworth United Methodist Church in Peoria.

Services were held Monday at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria with Rev. Thomas Eckhardt officiating. Burial was in Parkview Cemetery in Peoria.
