Brother of Astorian Dies In Decatur

Ernest D. “Dick” Grove, 54, suffered a heart attack March 23, while at work at the Arch Daniels Bean Mill in Decatur. He was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital in that city where he died about 6 o’clock that evening.

Mr. Grove was born on Jan. 20, 1906, a son of G. Ahas and Emma D. Grove of Astoria. He was married to Marie Cripe of Cerro Gordo who survives, along with two children, James Grove and Marilyn, at home. Also surviving are three granddaughters, 3 sisters, Pearl Grove in Astoria, Mrs. Will Schisler in Ipava, Mrs. Dolla Mitchell in Frederick, and a brother, Orlo of Vermont.

He was a member of the Church of the Brethren in Cerro Gordo. Funeral services were conducted Saturday afternoon in the Freese Funeral Home with Rev. Dale Hylton of the Brethren church officiating. Burial was in the Cerro Gordo cemetery.

Mr. and Mrs. Perry Schisler and Mrs. Della Schisler of Ipava, Miss Pearl Grove of Astoria and Mrs. Gladys Hernon and husband of Abingdon, attended the services.
