Sarah "Sally" EllisSarah Lea “Sally” Ellis, 74, of Rushville died at 12:40 p.m. March 11, 2017, at Rushville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born March 19, 1942, in Schuyler County, the daughter of Harold W. and Mary Louise Irwin Kinkead. She married Gene H. Ellis on June 7, 1959, in Astoria. He passed away March 18, 2010.

She also was preceded in death by one great-grandchild; and one brother, John Kinkead.

Surviving are four daughters, Leann (and Bob) Heffren of Ripley, Georgeann L. Ellis (and companion Kathy Foster) of Beardstown, Rhonda J. (and Darrell) Morton of Heber Springs, Ark., and Kimberly N. Cluney of Rushville; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She graduated from Astoria High School and was a Certified Nurse’s Aide. She worked at Astoria Health Care Center and Snyder’s Vaughn-Haven Nursing Home as a CNA. She later operated the concessions area of the nursing home.

She was a member of Astoria Christian Church and Rushville First Presbyterian Church. She taught children’s Sunday school classes and Bible school. She also was a member of the Astoria Mothers Club, was a RSVP volunteer and for 21 years, she volunteered at the Rushville HELP Center.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with Mr. David Haney officiating. Burial will follow in Rushville City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of services on Thursday.
