Gene EllisGene H. Ellis, 74, of Rushville died at 8:51 a.m. March 18, 2010, at Snyder’s Vaughn Haven Nursing Home.

He was born April 21, 1935, in Rushville, a son of Clyde and Mary Lillian Knowles Ellis. He married Sally Kinkead on June 7, 1959, in Astoria. She survives.

Also surviving are four daughters, Leann (and Bob) Heffren of Ripley, Georgeann L. (and companion Kathy Foster) of Beardstown, Rhonda J. Morton of Heber Springs, Ark., and Kimberly N. Ellis of Rushville; two brothers, his twin, Dean (and Regina) Ellis of Rushville and Cecil Ellis of Beardstown; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one great-granddaughter.

He was a barber for 16 years, worked at Astoria Fibra Steel and later Bohn Aluminum in Beardstown, retiring in 1989.

He was a member of Rushville First Presbyterian Church.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with Rev. Steve Akins officiating. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until time of services.
