VeteranClyde C. Ellis Of Rushville Dies

Clyde C. Ellis Sr., 77, of Rushville, died at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 29, 1990, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.

He was born March 7, 1913, in Colchester, a son of Jesse L. and Anna Sanford Ellis. He married Lillian Knowles on March 18, 1934, in Rushville. She survives.

Also surviving are three sons, twins Gene and Dean, both of Rushville and C. Cecil Jr. of Beardstown; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Paul of El Paso, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by four brothers.

A World War II Navy veteran, he served as a barber on the hospital ship, USS Hope. He was a 1932 graduate of Molers Barber College in Chicago and was a self-employed barber in Rushville for 57 years.

He was a member of Colchester United Methodist Church and attended First Presbyterian Church in Rushville. He was a member of Schuyler American Legion Post 4.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday afternoon at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with Rev. Michael Orsted officiating. Burial was in Rushville City Cemetery.

Military services were conducted by Schuyler American Legion Post 4 at the funeral home on Thursday evening.
