Michael DavisMichael W. Davis, 77, of Rushville, formerly of Astoria, died at Mason District Hospital on July 17, 2026, surrounded by his family.

He was born Oct. 12, 1948, in Canton, a son of Whitney and Norma Siler Davis. He married Peggy J. Dutton on May 1, 1970. She preceded him in death on Nov. 9, 2021.

He also was preceded in death by one sister, Jill Elliott; and one brother, Richard “Dick” Davis.

Surviving are three children, Brant Davis of Astoria, Matt (and Adrienne) Davis of Browning and Amy (and Dan) Shaw of Rushville; one brother, Jon Davis of Isleton, Calif.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. His military service reflected the quiet courage, resilience and sense of duty that remained with him throughout his life.

Following his military service, he dedicated many yesars to Caterpillar Inc., where he built a respected career before retiring. He also gave back to his community by volunteering with the Astoria Fire Department for many years, serving his neighbors with the same quiet dedication that defined his life. He also was a proud member of Astoria American Legion Post 25, Schuyler County American Legion Post 4 and Rushville Moose Lodge 506.

Services were held Tuesday, July 21, at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Pastor Jason Triplett officiating. Burial was held in the Astoria Cemetery with military honors provided by the United States Army Honor Guard and the Astoria American Legion Post #25 followed in recognition of his faithful service to our nation.

Memorials in Mike’s memory may be made to the Astoria American Legion Post #25, the Land of Lincoln Honor Flight or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
