Charles "Dick" DavisCharles R. “Dick” Davis, 61, of Astoria died at 7:13 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 24, 1999, at Graham Hospital Extended Care in Canton.

He was born Oct. 18, 1937, in Pleasant View, the son of Maurice W. and Elizabeth Nelson Davis. He married Marna S. Skiles on May 20, 1962, in Hannibal, Mo. She died Oct. 29, 1996.

He also was preceded in death by his father and one sister, Pat Maxwell.

Surviving are his mother of Rushville; one son, Jamie “Jay” of Astoria; one daughter, Marci Davis of Glendale, Ariz.; one sister, Mrs. Ronnie (Carol) Greer of Littleton; and several nieces and nephews.

He worked for GMAC in Beardstown and Peoria and later was a loan officer at Glasford State Bank. He then worked at Bartonville Bank until January 1981, when he became president of Farmers State Bank and Trust Co. in Astoria. He retired in May 1991.

He served in the Army from 1959 to 1965 and was a member of Vermont American Legion Post 26. He was a member of Astoria Masonic Lodge, AF&AM.

Services were held Saturday at Wood-Roby Funeral Chapel in Rushville with Allan Feltner officiating. Burial was in Rushville City Cemetery.
