Ronald "Hoot" GreerRonald Lee “Hoot” Greer, 80, of Rushville, formerly of Littleton, died at 11:53 p.m. Sept. 1, 2019, at Mill Creek Memory Care in Springfield.

He was born May 20, 1939, at the family farm near Littleton, a son of Joseph Ward and Mary Marjorie Winters Greer. He married Carol Sue Davis on Feb. 22, 1959. She survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Rhonda (and Matthew) Briney of Astoria and Toni McDowell of Springfield; four grandchildren, Amber Briney (and Leighton) Rector, Andrew Briney, Lauren McDowell and Lucas McDowell; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Donald Greer.

He graduated from Rushville High School with the class of 1957. He was a life-long farmer and a member of Littleton United Methodist Church, Rushville Lodge #9 AF & AM and Quincy Consistory AASR. He also was a member of the Schuyler County Fair Board for many years where he served as superintendent of the draft horses.

He bought and sold Quarter horses, Belgian draft horses and Standard bred harness horses.

Funeral services were held Friday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with Rev. Robert Kirkham officiating. Burial was in Rushville City Cemetery.
