HAROLD A. "WHITNEY" DEMOTT

Harold DeMott

Harold A. “Whitney” DeMott, 76, of Vermont, died at 5:55 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 8, 1998, at Sprucewood Health Care Center in Macomb.

He was born Dec. 7, 1922, in Table Grove, a son of John and Harriett Emery DeMott. He married Virginia Wolf on Nov. 17, 1947, in Springfield. She survives.

Also surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Edward (Marilyn) Bohm and Mrs. Larry (Lisa) Kendrick, both of Vermont, and Mrs. Rick (Carolyn) Beaird of Austin, Texas; one son, Harold of Gillette, Wyo.; one brother, Paul of Quincy; three sisters, Dorothy Masten and Ruth Fricke, both of Quincy, and Pauline DeMott of Rushville; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

One son, one daughter and two brothers preceded him in death.

He operated a Phillips 66 station in Vermont for 17-1/2 years. He also was a bus driver and custodian for VIT School District for 16-1/2 years.

Services were held Saturday at Vermont Christian Church with Revs. Tim Gilliland and Carl Kingery officiating. Burial was in Vermont Cemetery. Kost Memorial Home in Vermont was in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to Vermont Rescue Squad or Vermont Christian Church.
