Charles G. Davis, 79, Retired Farmer, Dies

Charles G. Davis, 79, of Adair, died at 11:35 a.m. Sunday at McDonough District Hospital. Death was attributed to a heart attack.

Funeral services will be held today at 2 p.m. in the Evangelical United Brethren church in Adair. The Rev. Robert Hall will officiate and burial will be in Pennington Point cemetery.

He was born Feb. 16, 1883, in Schuyler County, a son of William and Sarah Sayers Davis. He resided near Astoria and Bader until his marriage to Ada Grace Grim on Jan. 27, 1915. The widow survives. He farmed near Adair during his married life except for three years near Table Grove. He retired from farming and moved to Adair in 1958. He was a member of the New Salem Christian church.

A daughter and son, Sarah and Albert, died in infancy. Also deceased are six brothers, William, Joseph, Lemuel, Enock, John and Fred; and two sisters, Mrs. Louisa Bryan and Mrs. Ellen Craig.
