Lemuel A. Davis Dies In Rushville Hospital

Lemuel A. Davis, 82, a lifetime resident of the Astoria area, died at 9 o’clock Saturday morning in Culbertson hospital in Rushville, where he had been a patient for six days. He had been in ill health for two years with heart trouble.

He was born May 9, 1875 in Schuyler county, a son of William and Sarah (Sears) Davis. On Nov. 4, 1904 he was married to Lorraine Prather, who survives.

Mr. Davis was a member of the Evangelical United Brethren church, and years ago had been a farmer.

Surviving in addition to the widow are a daughter, Mrs. Della Robertson of Belville, Ill., two sons, Russell H. Davis of Chicago, and Robert Davis of El Paso, Texas, eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Charles Davis of Adair and Fred Davis, of Astoria also survive. One daughter preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Shawgo Memorial Home conducted by Rev. J. E. Sibert, pastor of E. U. B. church. Burial in Oak Grove cemetery.
