Joe G. Davis Canton Dies Suddenly

Joe Grant Davis, 80, prominent Canton resident, died suddenly in the Graham hospital in that city last night at 12:30 o’clock. He was taken to the hospital at 4:30 yesterday afternoon, suffering with a gall bladder and heart attack.

Mr. Davis was well known thru-out the county. He was mayor of the city of Canton for three terms, and taught in public schools for 40 years. He was born and reared near Astoria, and owned several farms near here. He made frequent visits to Astoria, to look after his interests.

Mr. Davis’ wife preceded him in death several years ago. He is survived by three children, two daughters and a son: Mrs. Pearl M. Reiley of Table Grove, Mrs. Nell Sexton of Canton, and Earl Davis of Blytheville, Ark. Also three brothers, Lemuel Davis of Astoria, Fred Davis of Astoria, Charles Davis, of Adair and one sister, Mrs. Ella Craig, of Orlando, Fla.

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at two o’clock from the Methodist church in Canton. Burial in the Canton cemetery.
