William S. Danner, Well Known Astorian, Dies in Canton Hospital Sunday

William S. Danner, 94, a lifetime resident of this community, died Sunday in the Graham Hospital Canton, where he had been a patient for three days.

Prior to his retirement, Mr. Danner owned and operated a general store, known as Danner and Larew, in Astoria.

Born July 23, 1863 in York, Pa., a son of Jesse and Catherine (Shaffer) Danner, he was married on Oct. 12, 1890 to Mary E. Stremmel who preceded him in death on Sept. 22, 1949.

Surviving are four children: Mrs. Mae Peterson, Mrs. Edith Weber and Bransford Danner, all of Astoria and Mrs. Grace Ganoe of Macomb; a sister, Mrs. Fairie Pettigrew, Astoria; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. A son, Lloyd, preceded him in death in 1917.

Funeral services were conducted at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon in the Church of the Brethren, of which Mr. Danner was a member by the Rev. Walter Young, pastor of the Woodland Church of the Brethren. Burial was in Woodland cemetery.

The Shawgo Memorial Home had charge of the services.
