DR. BERNARD D. CAMPBELL

Dr. Bernard D. Campbell, 74, of Astoria, died at 7:10 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, 1998, at his residence.

He was born March 14, 1924, in Astoria, a son of Ora Lee and Ola Mae Priest Campbell. He married Margaret F. Barrett on Sept. 6, 1952, in Astoria. She died June 3, 1985. He married Charlotte Fleming on March 14, 1988, in Lakeland, Fla. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Terry of Macon, Ga., and David of Astoria; one daughter, Mrs. Kent (Jan) Boucher of Springfield; one stepson, Robert Fleming of Ipava; one sister, Imogene Johnson of Mountain Home, Ark.; and four grandchildren.

One brother, one sister and one infant sister preceded him in death.

A World War II Army veteran, he was a member and past commander of Astoria American Legion Post 25. He was a veterinarian in Astoria from 1952 to 1987. He was a life member of American Veterinary Medical Association. He also was a member and past president of Central Illinois Veterinary Medical Association. He served on the Astoria Unit School Board of Education for 12 years.

Services were held Tuesday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Collis Trone officiating. Burial was in Astoria Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to his American Legion Post or to McDonough District Hospital Hospice in Macomb.
