VeteranDr. O. L. Campbell, Well Known Vet Dies Saturday

Dr. O. L. Campbell, 73, a veterinarian in Astoria for nearly 50 years, died Saturday evening in the Schmitt Memorial Hospital in Beardstown where he had been a patient the past eight weeks after becoming ill in his home.

Dr. Campbell graduated from the Kansas City Veterinarian School in 1914. He served in World War I with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He was a member of the American Veterinarian Medical Association, Mississippi Valley Veterinarian Association, Astoria Masonic Lodge, AF&AM, and the Astoria Community Club. At the time of his death he was also employed by the Illinois Department of Agriculture.

Dr. Campbell was born on October 25, 1886 in Winchester, Ill. the son of S. D. and Alice Davis Campbell. On October 25, 1914, he was married to Ola Priest, who survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Imogene Johnson, South Bend, Ind., and Mrs. Virginia Flood, Atlanta, Ga.; two sons, John Campbell, and Dr. Bernard Campbell, veterinarian, both of Astoria; six grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Margaret Towell of Winchester. One daughter and two brothers are deceased.

Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at the Shawgo Memorial Home with Paul Brubeck officiating. Military rites were conducted at the grave, with burial in Astoria cemetery.

The many beautiful floral offerings and the large attendance at the services were a tribute to Dr. Campbellā€™s memory in this community.
