Leroy Phillip Clayton, 97, of Astoria, died at 11:35 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, 1996, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.
He was born Feb. 9, 1899, in Camden Township, Schuyler County, a son of John and Kathryn Shelts Clayton. He married Mary Crable on Nov. 21, 1925, in Rushville. She survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Gerald Clayton of Browning, Delbert Clayton of Astoria and Cecil L. Clayton of Canton; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
One son, one grandson, four brothers and one sister preceded him in death.
A member of Fulton County Farm Bureau, he was a retired farmer.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Collis Trone officiating. Burial was in Astoria Cemetery.
