VeteranGeorge Clemens Dies At Age 90

George E. Clemens, 90, of Table Grove, died at 5:15 a.m. Monday, Feb. 19, 1990, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.

He was born Sept. 7, 1899, in Table Grove, a son of Ell and Emma Jane Hoke Clemens. He married Lena Wilson, who died in 1938. He later married Mary L. Negley on Aug. 31, 1945, in Havana. She died on April 23, 1988.

He also was preceded in death by one son, James E., two brothers and five sisters.

Surviving are two sons, Richard of Phoenix, Ariz., and Carroll of Sun Valley, Calif.; one daughter, Mrs. Marian Stenson of Pasadena, Calif.; four stepdaughters, Mrs. Martha Burns and Mrs. Marilyn Kinnamon, both of Peoria, Mrs. Marjorie Cox of Vermont, and Mrs. Margaret Selph of Table Grove; two sisters, Mrs. Martha Rinker of South Carolina and Mrs. Alta Rinker of Eureka; 20 grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren.

He was a World War I Army veteran and was a member of Table Grove American Legion Post No. 413. He also was a member of the Table Grove Community Church. He had been a farmer and a carpenter in the Table Grove area all of his adult life.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at his church, with Rev. Bruce Peterson officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight at Kost Memorial Home in Vermont. Burial will be in Harris Cemetery near Table Grove, with military rites conducted by Table Grove American Legion Post No. 413.
