Alta Rinker Dies At Age 94

Alta Rinker, 94, formerly of Eureka, died at 6:50 p.m. Friday, May 11, 1990, at the Roanoke Apostolic Christian Home, where she was a resident.

She was born Sept. 11, 1895, in Ipava, a daughter of James and Emma Clemens. She married Jacob A. Rinker on May 29, 1918, in Washington, D.C. He died on Nov. 13, 1974. She also was preceded in death by two sons.

Surviving are two sons, Jack of Eureka and Andrew of New Orleans; one daughter, Sue Anderson of Seattle; one brother, George Clemens of Table Grove; one sister, Mrs. Martha Glasgo of Wetumpka, Alberta, Canada; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

An elementary school teacher in Eureka before retiring, she was a member of the American Association of University Women and the Dames Club at Eureka College. She was an honorary member of the 20th Century Club, and was a former member of the Eureka Women’s Club.

She also was a member of the Eureka Christian Church.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at Otto-Argo Funeral Home in Eureka with Rev. Glenn Riddell officiating. Burial was in Olio Cemetery, Eureka.
