Martha Burns Of Peoria Dies

Martha M. Burns, 64, of Peoria, died at 10:15 a.m. Monday, Sept. 24, 1990, in Proctor Community Hospital Emergency Room.

She was born April 25, 1926, in Canton, a daughter of Martin and Mary Wilkerson Negley. She married Duane W. Burns on Oct.14, 1949, in Princeville. He survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Mrs. David (Deborah) Underwood of Peoria; three sisters, Mrs. Travis (Marjorie) Cox of Vermont, Mrs. Gordon (Marilyn) Kinnamon of Peoria and Mrs. Dale (Margaret) Selph of Table Grove; two stepbrothers, Richard Clemens of Arizona and Carroll Clemens of California; one stepsister, Marian Stenson of California; two granddaughters; and one step-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her stepfather, George Clemens, and an infant brother.

She was a secretary for Bramlet & Co. for many years. She later worked for the State of Illinois Dept. of Children and Family Services from 1979 to 1987.

She was a member of Northminster Presbyterian Church, its choir, Presbyterian Women’s Fellowship and the 55 Club.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at her church with Rev. Roane L. Deckert officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Cumerford-Endsley Memorial Home and one hour before the services at the church. Burial will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens.
