He was born May 23, 1939, in Lewistown, a son of Cecil L. and Zelma L. Vaughn Burgess. He married Judith Hitchcock in 1964. She died in 2004.
He also was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
Surviving are Bonnie Hiatt with whom he made his home; six children, Scott Burgess, Raymond Burgess, Ed Burgess, Kim Virag, Gail Gilpin and Edna Burgess; two sisters, Alice (and Elton) Colston of Ipava and Mary Bailey of Havana; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He worked at the former Norris Farm for many years. He also was a construction laborer and had worked for the Cuba Police Department.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Lewistown with Reverend Glen Edenburn officiating. Burial will be in White Chapel Memory Gardens in Canton. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the memorial home.
