Frances E. Briney, 94, of Astoria died at 11:43 a.m. April 21, 2008, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.
She was born Nov. 26, 1913, in Astoria, a daughter of Charles William and Estella Margaret Keefer Stremmel. She married Ralph Briney on Feb. 18, 1933, in Rushville. He died March 12, 2001.
She also was preceded in death by one brother, Sheldon Stremmel; one sister, Fern Webb; and one granddaughter, Kelly Jo McCombs.
Surviving are two sons, Ron (and Barbara) Briney of New Braunfeld, Texas, and Charles “Bud” Briney of Astoria; one daughter, Kay (and Greg) Ripp of Hubertus, Wis.; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and six step-great-grandchildren.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Sheldons Grove United Methodist Church, Sheldons Grove Ladies Aid and a 50-year member of the Order of Eastern Star Lodge #226, where she was a past Worthy Matron.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Gary Sheets officiating. Burial will be in Astoria Cemetery.
