Dalton BlakleyDalton Dean Scott Blakley, 13, of Astoria, formerly of Ipava, died at 7:41 a.m. June 27, 2007, at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio.

He was born Sept. 26, 1993, in Peoria, a son of Brian Scott and Pamela Christine (Culp) Blakley.

Surviving are his mother, Pamela of Peoria; father, Brian (and Kari Heller) of Astoria; one brother, Brody Blakley of Astoria; one sister, Ayreona Johnson of Ipava; grandfather, Keith Culp of Clay City; two grandmothers, Donna Mowder of Peoria and Hila Robertson of Canton; grandparents, Larry (and Lori Fawcett) Blakley of Ipava; and two great-grandmothers, Doris Robertson of Ipava and Margaret Henderson of Cuba.

He was preceded in death by great-grandparents, Woodrow and Arizona Ray, Blanche and Wilbur Culp, Philip Robertson and Verle Henderson.

He was a student at Astoria Junior High School, just completing seventh grade, where he played on the school’s basketball and football teams. He played baseball for Astoria Park District.

He was a member of the Little League Hall of Fame and received an Academic Excellence Award from the state of Illinois for his ISAT scores. He received many academic awards at Astoria Schools.

Celebration of Life service was held Saturday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Pastor Gary Schultz officiating. Burial was in Ipava Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn., or Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, Cincinnati, Ohio.
