Verle Henderson

Verle E. “Bud” Henderson, 83, of Smithfield, died at 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 12, 1999, at Graham Hospital Extended Care in Canton.

He was born Sept. 25, 1916, in Fulton County, a son of Ross and Corda Casper Henderson. He married Vaneda Paul. He later married Nancy Margaret “Hazel” Blakley on May 19, 1962, in Canton. She survives.

Also surviving are three sons, Ronald (and Jean) and Richard (and Lois), both of East Peoria, and Donald (and Dixie) of East Moline; three stepsons, Wilford (and Andrea) Blakley and Glenn (and Judi) Blakley, both of Smithfield, and Larry (and Laurie) Blakley of Ipava; one stepdaughter, Nancy Blakley of Smithfield; one brother, Vernon (and Anna) of Lewistown; one sister, Jean Bainer of Lewistown; 15 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Two brothers and four sisters preceded him in death.

He was a retired farmer and construction laborer. He also worked for CB&Q railroad for 10 years.

Services were held today at 10 a.m. at Henry Memorial Home in Cuba with Rev. Layton Malone officiating. Burial was in Cuba Cemetery.
