Kent L Briney, 54, of Astoria was pronounced dead at 1:21 p.m. Monday, April 26, 2004. He died in a fire at his home.
He was born June 20, 1949, in Canton, a son of Woodrow and Meryle Rose Briney. He married Jan Bockler on July 31, 1976, in Metamora.
Surviving are his mother of Ipava; two sons, Ben of Washington and Dan of DeKalb; one daughter, Jill Briney of Washington; and one brother, Gary (and Emily) of Raleigh, N.C.
He was preceded in death by his father; maternal grandparents, Sam and Flossie Rose; and paternal grandparents, Grover and Goldie Briney.
He was a 1968 graduate of Astoria High School and attended Spoon River College.
A member of the United Chemical Workers of America, he worked for WITCO in Mapleton until retiring in 1996.
Services were held Friday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Rev. Marian Stone officiating. Burial was in Summum Cemetery.
