Ruby Butler

Ruby Butler, 97, of Astoria died at 3:40 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, 2004, at Astoria Gardens & Rehab Center.

She was born Feb. 10, 1907, in Woodland Township, Fulton County, a daughter of Roscoe and Carrie Edlin Wilson. She married Willard L. Butler on March 15, 1929, in Astoria. He died March 1, 1974.

She also was preceded in death by one son, Robert L. Butler; one grandson, Jeff Butler; three sisters, Violet Husted, Bonnie Howard and Viva Etter; and one brother, Ross Wilson.

Surviving are one son, Ronald (and Carolyn) of Capetown, South Africa; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one half brother, Lyle (and Anna) Ratcliff of Astoria.

A schoolteacher, she taught in various country schools in the Astoria area. She was a member of Fulton County Farm Bureau.

She was a member of Summum Christian Church, where services were held Sunday with Ronald Butler, Ken Peterson and Steve Castenada officiating. Burial was in Hickory Cemetery. Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria was in charge of arrangements.
