Ronald Butler

Ronald C. Butler, 71, of Cape Town, South Africa died May 14, 2008, in an African hospital.

He was born July 27, 1937, in Peoria to Willard and Ruby Wilson Butler. He married Carolyn Black on June 14, 1959, in Kell. She survives.

Also surviving is one daughter, Suellen (and Don) Shay of Cape Town; one son, Greg (and Linda) Butler of Springfield; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, Jeffrey Scott Butler; and one brother, Robert Butler.

He studied for his ministry at Lincoln Bible Institute and Lincoln Christian College and received his doctorate of Missiology Degree from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in 1994. He was a missionary in Africa for over 50 years.

Services were held at an African church in Mufuleni. A Celebration of Life Service was held May 29 at Lincoln Christian Church with several African Christian missionaries giving tributes.
