Lyle RatcliffLyle D. Ratcliff, 86, of Astoria, died at 11:26 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 2, 2005, at Graham Hospital in Canton.

He was born Oct. 11, 1918, in Woodland Township, Fulton County, a son of Grover and Carrie Edlin Ratcliff. He married Anna R. Hopping on Nov. 28, 1946, in Astoria. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, Dennis (and Cindy) of Astoria; four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one step-great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by one son, Larry; four half sisters, Ruby Butler, Violet Husted, Viva Etter and Bonnie Howard; and one half brother, Ross Wilson.

He served in the Army during World War II with the rank of T3 SGT, in Africa, Italy and Okinawa, Japan. He was a former member of Astoria American Legion Post #25 and the Disabled American Veterans.

He was a farmer, construction worker and truck driver for over 50 years.

Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Wayne Curless officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in Hickory Cemetery in Astoria with military rites accorded by Astoria American Legion Post #25.

Memorials may be made to Hickory Cemetery.
