R. Burdette Baker

R. Burdette Baker, 84, of Rushville, died at 11:50 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, 1996, at the Culbertson Long Term Care Facility in Rushville.

He was born Feb. 2, 1912, in Fulton County, a son of John and Kate Reno Baker. He married Shirley Riggall on March 7, 1932 in Carthage. She survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Patricia Acker and Nancy Albert, both of Rushville; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Richard Baker of Browning; and one sister, Iola Vratis of Astoria.

He was preceded in death by five brothers and sisters.

He was a member of the Sugar Grove United Methodist Church. A lifelong farmer, he also operated Baker’s Grill in Rushville for several years. He was an avid fisherman and deer hunter.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. today at the Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with Rev. Wayne Bonser officiating. Burial will be in the Rushville City Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to the Sugar Grove United Methodist Church.
