Richard Baker

Richard Baker, 87, of Browning died at 6:15 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 23, 2003, at his residence.

He was born Sept. 3, 1916, in Hickory Township, Schuyler County, a son of John C. and Kate Reno Baker. He married Florence Gust on Oct. 19, 1939, in Kahoka, Mo. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, Gary (and Darlene) of Rushville; one daughter, Carol (and Phillip) Curless of Lewistown; one sister, Iola Vratis of Astoria; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Iris Sharman and Lela Hellyer and two brothers, Milo Baker and Burdette Baker.

He was a lifelong farmer in Hickory Township.

He was a member of Bader Christian Church.

Graveside services were held Tuesday at Bader Cemetery with Robert Spencer officiating. Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria was in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to his church.
