Elizabeth H. Burgard Dies At Age 92

Mrs. Elizabeth H. Burgard, 92, died about 10 p.m. Monday night in the Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville. She had been in failing health about two years. She had spent most of her life in the Astoria area.

Born Feb. 20, 1874 in Dauphin County, Pa., she was a daughter of Jacob and Fannie Hollinger Gruber. She was married to Pius C. Burgard in Astoria on Jan. 14, 1897. He preceded her in death on Oct. 29, 1952.

She was a member of the Astoria Church of the Brethren.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Mildred Hults of Naperville and Mrs. Lula Baker of Dixon; three sons, Herschel Burgard of Browning, Andrew Burgard of Astoria, and Galen Burgard of St. Louis, Mo.; seven grandchildren and twenty-five great-grandchildren.

Two brothers and three sisters preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday afternoon in the Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. Rev. Elmer L. Dadisman will officiate and burial will be in the South Fulton Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Memorial Home Wednesday afternoon and evening.
