Astoria Resident Dies At Daughter’s Home

Mrs. Birdie S. Beaty of RR, Astoria, died Sunday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Maxine Haney, south of Colchester. She was 78. She had resided at her daughter’s home since returning home from the hospital about four months ago. Prior to entering the hospital she made her home east of Summum in Fulton County, where she had resided for 55 years.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Summum Christian church. The Rev. David Flood and Rev. Ernest Louderman officiated at burial was in the Summum cemetery.

Mrs. Beaty was born in Fulton County Dec. 9, 1884, the daughter of Manning and Catherine Porter Martin. She married Frank G. Beaty Sept. 6, 1903. He died in 1946. She was a member of the Summum Christian church.

Surviving are five children, Fay Beaty and Mrs. Fern Schisler, both of RR, Astoria; Dwight Beaty of RR, Avon, Mrs. Ethel Thompson of Adair and Mrs. Haney. There are 17 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren also surviving.

Deceased brothers and sisters are Mrs. Cecilia Smith, Mrs. Minnie Howe, Mrs. Ethel Mummert and E. D. Martin. A granddaughter is also deceased.

Mrs. Beaty had been an Argus correspondent for many years. Her column has been written by Mrs. Peggy Hart during her illness of the past few months.
