She was born April 13, 1925, in Eldorado Township, McDonough County, a daughter of Forrest and Bonnie Bollinger Easley. She married James Leslie Abernathy on April 13, 1946, in Astoria. He preceded her in death on Oct. 21, 2006.
She also was preceded in death by one daughter, Julia Mae Cleavinger; and two sisters, Charlotte and Laura Louise.
Surviving are two sons, James Abernathy II and David (and friend Rhonda) Abernathy, both of Vermont; three daughters, Betty (and Rich) Brumbaugh of Clinton, Mo., Judy (and friend Ron) Cross of Littleton, Colo., and Mary Lou (and Buddy) Hultz of Payson; one brother, Gene (and Jo) Easley of Ipava; 23 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She and her husband owned and operated Nora’s Café in Vermont and J & N Repair Shop in Table Grove.
Private family inurnment will be held at Harris Cemetery in Table Grove at a later date. Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville is in charge of arrangements.
