Julia CleavingerJulia Mae Cleavinger, 64, of Macomb died at 3:40 p.m. Jan. 28, 2014, at her residence.

She was born April 16, 1949, in Macomb, a daughter of James and Nora Easley Abernathy.

Surviving are her mother of Vermont; three daughters, Christy (and Jeff) Payne of Brunswick, Ga., Judy Cleavinger of Macomb and Cathy (and Joe) Phillips of Rushville; two brothers, David Allen Abernathy and James L. Abernathy, both of Vermont; three sisters, Betty Jane (and Richard) Brumbaugh of Lincoln, Mo., Judy Cross of Lakewood, Colo., and Mary Lou (and Buddy) Hultz of Payson; and four grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father and her former husband George Louis Cleavinger.

She graduated from VIT High School and Spoon River College School of Nursing.

She worked at McDonough District Hospital for 26 years before retiring in 2010.

She attended Vermont United Methodist Church. She also was an active member of Macomb Chapter of Altrusa, that promotes professional education for women.

Services were held Saturday at Harris Cemetery in Table Grove with Rev. Richard Brumbaugh officiating. Inurnment followed.
