Bernard Allen, 92, of Adair died at 4:37 p.m. March 7, 2015, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy.

He was born Aug. 28, 1922, in McDonough County, a son of Roy and Cora Grimm Allen. He married Mabel Louise Heaton on Dec. 31, 1948, in Industry. She preceded him in death on Sept. 21, 1995.

He also was preceded in death by three brothers, Burley Allen, Bayne Allen and Bill Allen; and three sisters, Beulah Russell, Bernita Branson and Bernice McCormick.

Surviving are one son, Roger (and Patty) Allen of Hopkinsville, Ky.; one daughter, Roberta DeMott of Adair; one sister, Beatrice Farr of Table Grove; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He served in the Army during World War II, following which he farmed all his life in New Salem Township.

He was a member of Table Grove American Legion, a former member of Farm Bureau, and he and his wife were active in the former Pennington Point Methodist Church.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Macomb with Rev. Clayton Hentzel officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:30-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Macomb, where full military rights will be conducted by Macomb American Legion, Macomb VFW and Table Grove American Legion.
