She was born Sept. 9, 1938, in Rushville, a daughter of Lloyd Cal and Anna Mae Blurton Clayton. She married Cline Leroy Smith on April 23, 1960, in Beardstown. He preceded her in death on Nov. 20, 1978. She then married LaVern "Dub" Yates on Aug. 12, 1979, in Doddsville. He died Aug. 27, 1998.
She also was preceded in death by one sister, Sue Vaughn.
Surviving are one son, Allen (and Angela) Smith of Rushville; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Howard and Dorothy (and Junior) Reische, both of Rushville; four brothers, Edward (and Pam) Clayton of Canton, Robert (and Sharon) Clayton of Naples, Lloyd (and Vicky) Clayton of Marion and Jack (and Cindy) Clayton of Macomb; two stepsisters, Dorothy K. (and Lyle) Lambert of Indiana and Joanne Greene of Astoria; two stepbrothers, Bill (and Helen) Lucas of Rushville and John (and Ellen) Lucas of South Dakota.
She worked as a CNA at Snyder's Vaughn-Haven Nursing Home, Mary Trone's Dari Maid Cafe and Schuyler American Legion Home, all in Rushville.
She was a member of Schuyler American Legion Auxiliary Unit #4.
Services were held Friday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with Rev. Mike Hall officiating. Burial was in Palm Cemetery west of Rushville.
