She was born July 26, 1941, in Alton, a daughter of Lloyd Cal and Anna Mae Blurton Clayton. She married Clifford Eugene Howard on Dec. 2, 1958, in Beardstown. He preceded her in death on June 1, 1999.
Surviving are two sons, Jimmie L. Howard (companion Cheryl Stone) and Tommie P. (and Cheryl) Howard of Rushville; two daughters, Sue E. (and Bill) Rosen and Nancy A. (and Donald) Minter, both of Houston, Texas; three brothers, Edward (and Pam) Clayton of Canton, Robert (and Sharon) Clayton of Merritt and Jack (and Cindy) Clayton of Macomb; one sister, Dorothy Reische of Springfield; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Roger Howard; one brother, Lloyd Clayton; and two sisters, Sue Vaughn and Carolyn Yates.
She worked at Haber Car Wash, Mary’s Dari Maid, Dee’s Café and Brown’s Restaurant until retiring in 2001.
She was a member of the Schuyler American Legion Unit #4.
Funeral arrangements will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with Rev. Grant Armstrong officiating. Burial will follow in Rushville City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
