Albert WindsorAlbert R. “Boots” Windsor, 93, of Smithfield died at 9:40 a.m. Nov. 5, 2021, at Graham Hospital in Canton.

He was born May 6, 1928, in Bryant, a son of William and Helen Courtney Windsor. He married Lois Arseno Taylor on Feb. 26, 1949, in Lewistown. She preceded him in death on June 7, 2016.

He also was preceded in death by two granddaughters, Misty Chambers and Sina DeGroot; three brothers, Harold, Larry and Donald Windsor; and one sister, Lulu Belle Stufflebeam.

Surviving are one daughter, Kathy (and Danny) Clauson of Glasford; two sons, Allen (and Jeanette) Windsor of Havana and Pepie Windsor; four grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

He worked at International Harvester in Canton for 30 years, retiring in 1976. After retiring, he farmed his own land and worked for other farmers.

He served in the U.S. Navy from 1945-49. He was stationed on the U.S.S. Sphinx and worked on Bikini Island testing nuclear bombs.

He was a member of the Cuba American Legion and Lewistown VFW. He often donated to the Wounded Warrior Project.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Pastor Ellen Dodd officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Mount Zion Cemetery in Astoria. The Cuba American Legion will provide military rites.

Memorials may be made to the Land of Lincoln Honor Flight.
