Clay WiseClay A. Wise, 58, of Mount Pleasant, Iowa, died Sept. 9, 2018, at home.

He was born Jan. 15, 1960, in Lake Charles, La., the son of Leslie and Janice Salisbury Wise. He never married.

Surviving are his mother, Janice Poloney of Canton; three sisters, Teresa (and Richard) Fleming of Mattoon, Patricia (and Robert) Cupp of Cannon City, Colo., and Connie (and Thomas) Rossignol of Aurora, Colo.; grandmother, Irma Salisbury of Canton; three nieces and nephews; two great-nieces and great-nephews; and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Leslie Wise; maternal grandfather, Lyle Salisbury; paternal grandparents, Arthur and Maydee Wise; and two aunts, Ruth Ellis and Marilyn Howarter.

He was a forklift operator for LaMont Company.

He was an Army veteran with a rank of Specialist 4, serving in the 124th Signal Battalion, Company C.

He was a member of Bob Tribby Post #58 American Legion in Mount Pleasant, Iowa.

Services were held Thursday at Astoria Cemetery with Pastor Kevin Kessler officiating. Burial was in Astoria Cemetery with military rites provided by the Astoria American Legion Post #25. Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria was in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
