Ida Lou WherleyIda Lou Wherley, 78, of Ipava died at 9:50 a.m. Wednesday, May 24, 2006, at Graham Hospital in Canton.

She was born May 30, 1927, in Table Grove, a daughter of Hugh Melvin and Anna Elizabeth Schuman Farr. She married Charles E. Wherley on April 17, 1949, in Table Grove. He died Dec. 20, 1967.

Also preceding her in death were two brothers, Donald Farr and Hugh Farr.

Surviving are two daughters, Jill (and Bill) Baker of Canton and Jane (and Kim) Cramer of Abingdon; one son, Jeff (and Susan) of Macomb; two brothers, Ralph (and Beatrice) Farr and Jack (and Donna) Farr, both of Table Grove; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A graduate of Western Illinois University, she was a school teacher for over 30 years, teaching at Vermont, Industry and VIT schools. She retired in 1993.

She was a member of Ipava Christian Church where she was organist, chime and choir director, and member of the Homebuilders Sunday school class. She also was a 33-year survivor of breast cancer and participated in the Race for the Cure in Peoria for many years.

Services were held Saturday at her church with Pastor Stacey Tomich and Pastor Ray Greenfield officiating. Burial was in Harris Cemetery in Table Grove. Shawgo Memorial Home in Ipava was in charge of arrangements.
