Jack G. Farr, 83, of Table Grove died at 7:10 a.m. Aug. 3, 2012, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy.

He was born Aug. 24, 1928, in Table Grove, a son of Hugh Melvin and Anna Elizabeth Schuman Farr. He married Donna Brockley on June 27, 1954, in Vermont. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Randy (and Sue) Farr of Ipava and Tony Farr (and Michael Fricke) of Mission Viejo, Calif.; one brother, Ralph (and Beatrice) Farr of Table Grove; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Ida Lou Wherley; and two brothers, Hugh and Donald Farr.

He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in the Korean War from 1951-52 with the HQ I Corps with the rank of Sergeant.

He farmed in the Table Grove area his entire life.

He resided at Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy the past 18 months.

He was a member of Table Grove Fire Department for 23 years where he was a former fire chief; NRA; and Fulton County Farm Bureau.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Table Grove Community Church with Pastor Rob Harrison officiating. Burial will be in Table Grove Cemetery with full military honors. Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria is in charge of arrangements.
