Hugh Farr

Hugh C. Farr, 82, of Table Grove died at 11:55 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 28, 2000, at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.

He was born March 5, 1918, in Browning, a son of Hugh Melvin and Anna Elizabeth Schuman Farr. He married Frances I. Crick on Sept. 1, 1940, in Ipava. She died April 6, 1994.

He also was preceded in death by one brother.

Surviving are one daughter, Patricia (and Don) Rittenhouse of Moline; three sons, Marshall (and Susan) of Danville, Don of Table Grove and Dennis (and Letty) of Springfield; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ralph and Jack, both of Table Grove; and one sister, Ida Lou Wherley of Ipava.

He was a farmer and owner and operator of Farr Trucking and Farr Fertilizer.

He served as a Democratic precinct committeeman in Fulton County and was on the Fulton County Planning Commission.

He was a member of Table Grove Community Church, where he served as trustee.

Services were held Sunday at his church with Rev. Frank Bush officiating. Burial was in Ipava Cemetery in Ipava. Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria was in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to Table Grove Fire Department and Rescue Squad.
