Eugene A. "Gene" White, 72, of Carson City, Nev., formerly of Astoria, died Wednesday, Feb. 23, at his home.

He was born March 16, 1932, in Bushnell, a son of William and Eva Derry White. He married Betty Schulz on Jan. 2, 1955. She survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Charlene (and Gary) Hembree and Deborah Jennings, all of Carson City; one brother, William (and Rosemary) of Beardstown; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather Henry Bucy; three infant sons; one infant daughter; and two brothers, Norman and Gary.

He graduated from Astoria High School.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps for three years.

He began working for the Nevada Department of Transportation survey crew in 1954. He retired from the State of Nevada as a senior computer systems analyst in 1987.

He was a member of St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church.

A funeral mass was held Feb. 28 at his church. Walton's Chapel of the Valley in Carson City was in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to his church's building fund.
