EVA M. (DERRY) WHITE BUCY

Eva Bucy

Eva M. Bucy, 85, of Astoria, formerly of Vermont, died at 11:00 a.m. Friday, Dec. 26, 1997, at the Astoria Healthcare Center.

She was born April 22, 1912, near Astoria, a daughter of Grover and Maggie Bollinger Derry. At a young age, she made her home with Solomon and Lida Greenplate Derry. She married William V. White on May 10, 1931, in Bushnell. He died July 18, 1955. She later married Henry F. Bucy on April 6, 1962, in Lewistown. He died Dec. 18, 1996. She was also preceded in death by one son, Gary White; two brothers, Arthur and Floyd; and six sisters, Stella, Emma, Rosa, Dora, Mildred and Mabel.

She was the last surviving member of her family.

Surviving are three sons, Eugene White of Carson City, Nev., William J. White of Beardstown, and Norman White of Astoria; five grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.

She owned and operated restaurants in Astoria and Vermont during the 1950s and 1960s and later worked as a cook for VIT Community Unit School District No. 2. She was a member of the Vermont American Legion Post 26 Auxiliary and was an avid bowler.

Services were held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Vermont United Methodist Church with Rev. Clifford Parry officiating. Burial was in Vermont Cemetery. Kost Memorial Home in Vermont was in charge of arrangements.
