THOMAS D. “TOMMY” WICKERT

Thomas D. "Tommy" Wickert, 82, of Ipava died at 9:30 p.m. Monday, April 7, 2003, at Heartland Health Care Center in Macomb.

He was born Nov. 9, 1920, in Ipava, a son of Harry L. and Bessie M. McCarty Wickert. He married Betty Bishop on Sept. 24, 1948, in Canton. She survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Diana (and Terry) Arnett of Table Grove, and Sue (and Randy) Farr of Ipava; one son, Edward (and Pam) of Ipava; one sister, Jean Simmons of Macomb; one brother, Jim (and Judy) of Canton; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was a lifelong farmer in the rural Ipava area.

He was a World War II Army veteran and a 50-year member of Ipava American Legion Post #17.

He was a member of Ipava United Presbyterian Church.

Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at his church with Rev. William Bodamer officiating. Visitation is tonight from 5-8 p.m. at Shawgo Memorial Home in Ipava. Burial will be in Ipava Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Ipava United Presbyterian Church or the Ipava Fire Department.
