Betty WickertBetty L. Wickert, 79, of Ipava died at 9:44 a.m. Feb. 15, 2008, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.

She was born July 2, 1928, in Ipava, a daughter of Ford and Ethel Baughman Bishop. She married Thomas D. “Tommy” Wickert on Sept. 24, 1948, in Canton. He died April 7, 2002.

She also was preceded in death by two brothers, Dale and Rolland Bishop.

Surviving are two daughters, Diana (and Terry) Arnett of Table Grove and Sue (and Randy) Farr of Ipava; one son, Ed (and Pam) Wickert of Ipava; two sisters, Mildred (and Rollin) Leezer of Lewistown and Mary Grisham of Cuba; two brothers, Howard (and Alice) Bishop of Canton and Junior (and Jane) Bishop of Fiatt; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She graduated from Cuba High School and later worked as a beautician in Canton. She was a homemaker.

She was a member of Ipava United Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday School for nearly 30 years.

Services were held Tuesday at her church with Rev. Danie deBeer officiating. Burial was in Ipava Cemetery. Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria was in charge of arrangements.
