Former Resident Dies Friday

John Waggoner, 86, of Pekin, died Friday morning in a Pekin hospital following a long illness.

Mr. Waggoner was born in April, 1874 in Astoria, a son of Peter and Katherine Danner Waggoner. He was a farmer in this area for over 50 years.

He was married to the former Nellie Powell of Astoria, who survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Earl Rowland of Pekin and Mrs. Howard Cole of Peoria, two granddaughters, two great-granddaughters, two sisters, Mrs. Clara Denman of Canton and Mrs. Grace Howard of Astoria; two brothers, W. W. Waggoner of Bardolph and George Waggoner of Astoria.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Preston Funeral Home in Pekin with burial in the Pekin cemetery.
