He was born Jan. 11, 1959, in Rushville, a son of Orval and Imogene Spring Umphryes.
Surviving are six sisters, Lona Jo (and Bill) Wagner of Belleville, Rosie (and Gary) Wece of Murphysboro, Susan Jackson, Nancy Hayes and Donna Raudabaugh, all of Vermont, and Betsy Umphryes of Centralia; and two brothers, Richard Umphryes of Caseyville and Jon Umphryes of Vermont.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Patsy Spring; and three brothers, Orval Jr., George and Neil Umphryes.
He was a farm hand on and off for 35 years at Heitz Farms.
Services will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Pastor Cody Stinnett officiating. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. before the service on Thursday. Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Vermont Cemetery.
