ALMA ELIZABETH (SURRATT) TRIMMER

Alma Trimmer

Alma E. Trimmer, 76, of Winchester, formerly of Rushville, died at 3:55 p.m. Friday, Aug. 15, 1997 at the Scott Co. Nursing Center in Winchester.

She was born July 11, 1921 in Sheldons Grove, a daughter of Joseph William and Mary Elizabeth Miller Surratt. She married William Chester Trimmer. He preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were one son, Roy Eugene Trimmer; and three brothers, Donald, Robert, and Jack.

Surviving are one son, Gary Trimmer of Vermont; six daughters, Mrs. Dwayne (Cindy) Sheely of Aurora, Joyce Lindsey-Moore of Jacksonville, Lil Kruger and Patsy Behl, both of Camden; four brothers, Charles Surratt of Palmer, Phillip Surratt of Sandwich, Ernie Surratt of Plano, Bobby Joe Surratt of Aurora; three sisters, Marie Kesler of Cooleyville, Texas, Rosalie Graham of Tovey, and Eloise Carlock of Gainsville, Texas; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one aunt, Hazel Decker of Table Grove; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church of Rushville and did volunteer work at the Schuyler Senior Center and the Rushville HELP Center. She was a cook at Culbertson Hospital in Rushville for several years before retiring in 1983.

Services were held Tuesday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with Rev. Mike Copper and Rev. Robert Carlock officiating. Burial was in Sheldons Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Scott Co. Nursing Center in Winchester.
